The Powder Room

North Richland Hills, TXBoard and batten, tile, fixtures, mirror, paint2026

The problem

A builders-grade, small-feel room. Beige on beige, a pedestal sink floating on a blank wall, cream tile with not a lot to say, and the double-glass globe lighting in the alcove doing all the work.

What we did

We wrapped the lower two-thirds in tall board and batten, and capped it with a proper chair rail, so the room reads as stately and intentional. Sherwin Williams' low-luster sage below, creamy alabaster above, patterned encaustic-look tile underfoot, and gold accent to warm the whole thing up.

The Study

Colleyville, TXFull-height grid wall with fluted inserts, patch and paint2023

The problem

A twelve-foot wall behind the built-in desk sat with dated cabinets and bookshelves collecting dust. After the old cabinetry had been torn out, we were left with a ragged paint line, swirled glue, and plenty of nail holes - the room almost resembled a blank slate of sorts.

What we did

After adding cabinets drawers to each end where the tall bookshelves used to be, we had to fabricate and install a new desktop and stain to match. We then drew the grid off the existing crown so the layout stayed true to the ceiling instead of the floor, built forty-eight openings out of poplar stile and rail and filled each one with reeded panel stock. Everything was filled, sanded smooth to the touch and sprayed in a deep charcoal-green so the mahogany crown and cherry cabinetry read complimentary and intentional rather than dated.

The Entry Staircase

Keller, TXStair rebuild, treads, risers, balusters, paint and stain2025

The problem

Carpet had been pulled and never replaced. Raw plywood, exposed nails, a partly modified and lacking handrail, and a stuffy wall ending where a landing should have been. The first thing guests saw was an unfinished job.

What we did

We rebuilt the run with solid oak, stained treads over crisp ultra-white painted risers, restored the balustrade with new balusters and stately newel post, and reset the trim and skirt board so every line landed straight. The stairs now open the flow into the home, instead of feeling tight and awkward.

The Breakfast Room

Colleyville, TXCeiling, trim, lighting2024

The problem

A flat, vaguely textured ceiling and the lack of overhead lighting gave the room a less-than-inviting feel to it. Heavy-toned crown molding was fighting for control of the room and begging for more.

What we did

We ran tongue-and-groove pine across the ceiling after removing the dated crown, added recessed cans for working light with custom stained trim rings, and hung a single tailored pendant over the table. The trim went quiet so that the ceiling could carry the room. Love!

They pulled the old vanity on a Monday and by the end of the week the room looked like it belonged in a magazine. Floors stayed covered, dust stayed contained, and the tile lines are dead straight. I got a photo every single evening.

Our stairs had been sitting on bare pine for almost a year after two other guys ghosted us. Level & Square gave me an itemized number on the spot, held to it, and the treads came out beautiful. No surprises at the end.

We asked for something warmer and they suggested tongue-and-groove pine instead of what we had in mind. They were right. The room finally gets the light it should, and the punch list was closed before they asked for the last payment.
